Oberaarbahn

With the Oberaarbahn to the source of the Aare

On this gondola ride, you sweep down low from the Grimsel Hospiz over Lake Grimsel and across breathtaking alpine Landscapes to Lake Oberaar, of which at the end the Aare originates from the glacier. During the 30-minute trip in two stages, you can experience the amazing panorama from a whole new perspective.

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased online, at the Tourist Center Grimseltor in Innertkirchen, at reception of the Hotel Grimsel Hospiz and at the ticket machines at the Visitor Centre at the Grimsel Hospiz and at the Oberaarbahn top station.
Accepted means of payment the ticket machines on site: EC and credit cards, REKA and Postcard, Twint.

Subsequent amendments, exchanges or refunds of the purchase price are not permitted.

Location and getting there

The base station is located at the Grimsel Hospiz.

The Grimsel Hsopiz is accessible by bus and car.

Further information

Panorama road Oberaar

The Oberaar can also be reached via the six-kilometre panoramic road from the Grimsel Pass. The road can only be travelled in one direction at a time.

Equipment

We recommend good footwear and weatherproof clothing.
Temperatures and weather conditions can change quickly in the mountains.

Requirements

The mountain paths require sure-footedness and a head for heights.

The Oberaarbahn is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. It is self-propelled and is operated by the guests themselves.

Dogs

Dogs are permitted on the Oberaarbahn and travel free of charge.

Information

No vehicles, aircraft or water sports equipment are transported on the Oberaarbahn.
