Opening times
Summer season 2025
28 June – 5 October
Enjoying the sun takes on a whole new dimension at 2,500 metres above sea level. Anyone hearing a secret tip in hushed tones about the sun terrace at Berghaus Oberaar should pay attention. Visitors here come face to face with the ice of the glacier while also enjoying a breathtaking view of the reservoir below, and all overlooked by the peaks of the highest “four-thousanders” in the cantons of Berne and Valais.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site is the perfect backdrop for relaxing hikes or action-packed mountain tours. The Restaurant and Berghaus Oberaar with its unique setting is the ideal starting point. It offers cosy rooms, traditional cuisine and a panoramic terrace that sees more hours of sun than virtually any location in Switzerland.
