OPENING TIMES
Winter season The Bäregghütte hibernates over the winter nestled deep in the snow. Summer season 2025 4 july to 18 september 2025
The Bäregghütte is located in the heart of the fantastic mountains of Grimsel and Oberaar at 2,455 metres above sea level. The entire area between the Grimsel Pass, Sidelhorn, Oberaarjoch, Bärglistock, Bächlistock and Räterichsbodensee reservoir is a cantonal nature reserve. It is home to different protected areas such as moorland, swamps and wildlife reserves, and borders the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Guests at the Bäregghütte are their own chef and master. The hut is situated close to Lake Trübten and is reached via the six-kilometre panoramic road leading from the Grimsel Pass. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is the perfect backdrop for relaxing hikes or action-packed mountain tours.
Panoramic road
The alpine hut is reached via a six-kilometre panoramic road leading from the Grimsel Pass. The road is one-way only.
From the Grimsel Pass to Restaurant and Berghaus Oberaar
The road is accessible for driving up the mountain on the hour (.00 to .10 past the hour)
From Restaurant and Berghaus Oberaar to the Grimsel Pass
The road is accessible for driving down the mountain on the half-hour (.30 to .40 past the hour)
Overnight closure
Access to the road is not permitted between 12 midnight and 06.00 am
Parking
It is not permitted to park vehicles along the panoramic road.
Paid parking is available at Lake Oberaar and Berghaus Oberaar.
Parking tickets can be obtained directly at the Grimselhotels when picking up your key.
Access via the track is permitted for one car/bus only. The vehicle must
be equipped with four-wheel drive. Ensure the barrier is closed at all times. Otherwise, there is a risk of additional unwanted traffic
in the nature reserve.
BÄREGG – CONTACT DETAILS AND GETTING HERE
The Bäregghütte is located in the breathtaking surroundings of the Grimselwelt in the Bernese Oberland, and can be reached via the panoramic road leading from the Grimsel Pass. Access to the hut is permitted via the track for a maximum of one vehicle with four-wheel drive. The handover of the key for unlocking the barrier to the track and hut must be organised in advance with the Grimselhotels.
