Whether schools, climbing groups, families or friends looking to enjoy the natural surroundings together, guests all feel right at home here high in the Alps. The alpine hut with its simple dormitory is the ideal starting point for hikes and climbing tours. The Bäregghütte is virtually unique in Switzerland, as it is located in an expansive nature reserve yet can still be rented out by the public.
Lounge and kitchen
In addition to a large, bright lounge, the kitchen is well stocked with pans, pots, an electric stove, dishwasher and enough crockery, cutlery and glasses for up to 62 guests.
The Bäregghütte has running drinking water.
Dormitories and teacher’s room
The alpine hut has berths for 62 people:
- Two 10-bed dormitories
- Two 20-bed dormitories
- One teacher’s room with two beds
The dormitories and teacher’s room come with wool blankets and pillows. Pillowcases are provided by the Grimselhotels. Sleeping bags and towels must be brought with you.
Prices
The set price is independent of the number of people and includes pillows and pillowcases, electricity and water, cleaning materials and VAT. Other taxes are not included in the price.

Cleaning
Cleaning is made according to the checklist for arrival and departure.
In the event of improper cleaning by the renting party, cleaning will be charged by the Grimselhotels at cost.

Bäregg – Contact details and getting here
The Bäregghütte is located in the breathtaking surroundings of the Grimselwelt in the Bernese Oberland, and can be reached via the panoramic road leading from the Grimsel Pass. Access to the hut is permitted via the track for a maximum of one vehicle with four-wheel drive. The handover of the key for unlocking the barrier to the track and hut must be organised in advance with the Grimselhotels.
